History/Origin |
The Finniss River was named by Fred Litchfield in 1865 to perpetuate the name of the first Government Resident in the NT at Escape Cliffs, Adam Bay. The Hundred of Finniss followed as one of the initial 13 Hundreds named in 1871. It was probably named after Boyle Travers Finniss. |
