| History/Origin |
Named in commemoration of Ruby Ariat (1900-1986) who was born in Darwin and worked at Government House in the 1920s, and later for the Fanning?s Family at Vesteys on Bullocky Point. Ruby lived at Bagot, Kulaluk, and at Mindil Beach and with her daughter Molly Baban. Ruby was a renowned Larrakia female hunter and taught other Larrakia people hunting skills and techniques. |
