History/Origin This Palmerston suburb is named in commemoration of Guido Zuccoli, a world renowned aerobatics pilot and Northern Territory businessman whose company Steelcon Constructions built the first structure in Palmerston in 1984 - the watertower in the city centre.

Guido Zuccoli was born in Italy and migrated to Australia as a 20 year old. He worked as a Civil Engineer for Transfield Pty Ltd in Cairns before starting Steelcon Pty Ltd in 1967 with fellow Italian Italo Speziali.

In 1976, Guido went out on hois own starting Steelcon Constructions Pty Ltd, which constructed over 60 bridges, water towers and fly-overs across Northern Australia.

Guido died in a plane crash at Tindal Airport on 6 March 1997, when his newly restored Harvard suffered an engine failure.

The suburb boundary, as approved on 8 March 2007, is deliniated on CP 5077.

The Guido Zuccoli Flyover at the Bagot Road - Stuart Highway intersection in Darwin is named in his honour.
