History/Origin Named after Victor (Vic) Jon Carusi who was born in Griffith, New South Wales in 1947. Vic came to the Northern Territory at the age of 19 for a holiday and never left. His first job was putting up fence lines for Station Holders in the Katherine region. During his early years, Vic was a contract bull catcher, working at Tipperary, Fish River and Elizabeth Downs with the local Aboriginal people. Vic later moved to Darwin where he worked for the John Law Electrical Company as a Linesman.

In 1973, during his time at John Law, Vic met his future wife, Robyn. After the devastation of Cyclone Tracy, Vic helped with the reconstruction of Darwin and in 1976 established V&R Carusi Pty Ltd. Vic and Robyn started business producing power poles and building power lines. They experienced the enormous growth and development within the Northern Territory, resulting in V&R Carusi building power lines throughout the Top End for almost thirty years. As a result, ninety percent of power poles in the rural area have the Carusi name plate on them. Vic passed away in November 2008.
