| History/Origin |
Named after Maurice Allan Vogel who worked for the then Water Resources Division in the Northern Territory Government. Whilst working with the Water Resources Division, Maurice travelled all over the Northern Territory including Daly Waters, Oenpelli, Maningrida, Snake Bay, Umbakumba, Nhulunbuy and Millingimbi, where he was instrumental in providing fresh water supplies to these communities. He continued to work for the Northern Territory Government for 30 years, becoming an Inspector of Machinery in the later stages of his career. Maurice passed away in 1980, aged 55. |
