| History/Origin |
Pieter Julius Walter was instrumental in Berrimah Farm and the agricultural industry in the Northern Territory. The Walter family arrived in Katherine in 1957, where Mr Walter worked as Agricultural Officer. In 1961 Mr Walter and his family moved to Darwin, where he was appointed the first Soil Conservation Officer in the Northern Territory. He applied his knowledge of pasture improvement and conservation techniques across the agricultural industries. |
