| History/Origin |
Named after the Ship "Albatross" which was used to carry much needed supplies to the settlers on the Daly River, Roper River and Borroloola. The skipper, Captain Luff was praised for his ability to run on schedule even when the Daly River was badly flooded. Captain Luff reported in 1921 that the Daly River was 10 Mile wide in places, that maize and corn could not be gathered and was rotting.
