History/Origin Named after Doctor Millner, Protector of Aborigines in old Palmerston in February 1870. He was Acting Government Resident subsequent to the departure of Goyder and the arrival of Captain Bloomfield Douglas in 1870. He was later acting Government Resident in 1873, between the departure of Douglas and the arrival of Mr G B Scott. He resigned in January, 1875 and perished with other passengers when the Gothenburg was wrecked off the Queensland coast on 25th February, 1875 on its voyage south.
