History/Origin Named after Robert Henry (Bob) Purvis, an early camel teamster who delivered mail and supplies north from Oodnadatta to Newcastle Waters. He took up Woodgreen Station in 1927 which he owned until his death in September 1965. He was buried at Atartinga (Woodgreen Station).
