Description

Abstract:

This is a polygon spatial dataset displaying Weed Management Zones for weed species that have a declared class A or B zone that is not the entire Northern Territory or has a declared statutory weed management plan.
Weed management zones are described as Class A, plants to be managed to eradication (eradication zone), and Class B, growth and spread to be contained (management zone). Both Class A and B are also described as Class C, not to be introduced to the NT.

Information is provided for general guidance only. Map users should refer to the Gazette notice for the formal definitions of the zones.

Weed species included in this dataset are athel pine, bellyache bush, brazillian pepper, cabomba, chinee apple, dalbergia, gamba grass, grader grass, mesquite, mimosa, neem, prickly acacia, rubber bush and siam weed.

Data Quality

Lineage:Each polygon was drawn using a GIS (ArcGIS Pro) against the corresponding Northern Territory Government Gazettal description, usually following cadastral boundaries.
When an update to a zone or management plan is declared (NTG gazette), the polygon and its attributes are updated as required, including web links to documents stored in Territory Stories (territorystories.nt.gov.au).

Positional Accuracy:NA

Attribute Accuracy:Attribute information is correct at the time of publishing but is subject to change with amendments to statutory plans or declaration status.

Logical Consistency:Polygon extents for each management zone were merged to a single dataset and polygons will overlap. Each polygon has a label with descriptive attributes.

Completeness:The zones are subject to change by statutory instrument. This metadata record and the associated spatial data will reflect changes.
