Description

Abstract:

This polygon spatial dataset shows areas subject to all development permits issued by the consent authority (Minister for Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics or their delegate and predecessors) in accordance with the Planning Act for the purpose of clearing native vegetation on unzoned land since 2003 (when clearing controls were introduced). (Unzoned land is land that is not zoned under the NT Planning Scheme - some zones also require consent to clear native vegetation.) Each polygon is subject to the conditions of the relevant permit.

Data Quality

Lineage:Pemitted clearing areas are derived from information submitted by applicants, provided as either drawn plans, coordinates or spatial data formats. In some cases, clearing areas were altered by the consent authority before approval. All formats were converted to an ESRI file geodatabase and stored in geographics, datum GDA94.

Positional Accuracy:Polygon position was supplied by the applicant or altered by the consent authority.

Attribute Accuracy:Attributes taken from details supplied by applicants. Cadastre information relates to time of submission of planning applications. Parcels may have since been subdivided, however approved areas remain valid over new titles. Where more than one parcel relates to a planning application, polygons are labelled with the relevant parcel details.
All polygons have attribute values as described in the Data Dictionary in this metadata record.

Logical Consistency:Several polygons have some minor editing problems (slivers, topology) due to either poor digitising of proposed clearing areas or were as provided by the applicant, however these cannot be altered since they have now been approved by the consent authority. Polygons may overlap previous approved areas that have expired and new applications assessed and areas approved for clearing.

Completeness:The point of truth dataset is stored in Oracle ArcSDE is updated as applications are approved. The dataset displayed in NR Maps is updated weekly.
