Data Quality
Lineage:Sample results and locations were obtained from open file company reports, other public sources of information and from databases supplied by exploration companies. Results were compiled in a MS-Excel speadsheets and imported into Mapinfo and ArcView.
Positional Accuracy:Positional accuracy is determined by the accuracy of data supplied in company reports and company datasets. Some degree of distortion may be inherited from registering images for digitising. Most samples were collected in AGD66 and then converted to GDA94. In some cases datum information was not provided and assumptions were made as to the correct datum. Comments where such assumptions are made are provided. Location accuracy is recorded in each record where known.
Attribute Accuracy:Attributes derived from information in company reports and other 3rd party sources. Some results from reports were open to interpretation.and where interpretation was significant, attention is drawn to this in the comments fields. Entries are provided for each record to the extent known with the exception of 500 prefix IDs where blank cells indicate that data sources have not been checked for the presence of such data.
Logical Consistency:The database is similar to other NTGS databases and is based on comprehensive databases with similar subject matter provided by Canadian and other Australian Surveys and in particular the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland.
Completeness:Complete to a reasonable level of certainty subject to the extent of detail provided to the Survey.
