History/Origin It would appear that the original aboriginal name "Parnkurr-parnkurr" was the name given by the local Aborigines (Warumungu) to the station area, previously identified in 1880s as Radford Springs.

The anglicised version Banka Banka was applied to the station by Thomas Nugent when he first took up his holding in 1890s.

Ernestine Hill in "The Territory" (pg 214) refers to coming to Banka Banka - the Warumungu word meaning many bees.
