History/Origin Following settlement of the Wulna Land Claim, NT Portions 1386 (formerly Escape Cliffs Historical Reserve), 2012 (formerly Cape Hotham Forest Reserve), 2017 (formerly Cape Hotham Conservation Reserve), 4498, 4499 and 4707 (formerly parts of Marrakai Conservation Reserve), the Limilngan-Wulna Aboriginal Corporation have leased back to the Territory Parks and Wildlife Commission.

The NT Portions mentioned above were declared a park under section 12(1) of the Territory Parks and Wildlife Act and named Djukbinj National Park in NTG S11 of 3 April 1997.

The name refers to the major King Brown dreaming associated with the area.
