History/Origin Named the Douglas Daly Experimental Station when first established in the 1950s and renamed the Douglas Daly Research Farm in the mid 1980s. This Government research facility is so named as it is located at the junction of the Douglas and Daly Rivers. The Daly River was named by Col. Boyle T Finniss in 1865.
