| History/Origin | SW Herbert in his unpublished manuscript "Reminiscences of life in the NT 1870-1873" records: "..five of which flow into the Fergusson, the largest of them all, named after Sir James Fergusson, then Governor of SA. These rivers were named by Mr W McMinn; " Mr McMinn was the overseer of the Overland Telegraph Line which was built across the river between Christmas Day and January 1871. |
