| History/Origin |
The Johnston Geodetic Station was established on a small hill a few miles south of Kulgera, near Mount Cavenagh Station and was named in 1964 after the late Federick Marshall Johnston, a former Commonwealth Surveyor General and Australia's inaugural Director of National Mapping. The Origin Station was established in October 1965 by officers of the Division of National Mapping after the first order survey traversing of Australia had been completed. |
