| History/Origin | Ernest Giles on 14 March 1874 named the Bowley Range. Giles in "Australia Twice Traversed" states: "... A hill in the main range eastward of Mount Miller I called Mount Bowley", after Mr Bowley of the Charlotte Waters Telegraph Station. Other features in the area named at the same time include:- the Chirnside, Mount Miller, Louisa's Creek, the Shaw, Mount Curdie, Mount Fagan, Blood's Range, the Hull, MacBain's Springs, the Ruined Rampart, the Docker, Livingstone Pass, Learmouth Park to name a few features. Giles Map in SAPP 215/1874 and on maps up to 1934; the feature is shown as BOWLEY RANGE. |
