History/Origin | P E Warburton mentions in his journal on 23 May 1874 "these remarkable hills distant 25 miles, are table topped, quite flat and scarped all round, the middle one saddle back and the third wedge shaped." The mount is not mentioned in his journal but his plan of 1874 shows "Mt Davenport". No mention is made of after whom Mt Davenport is named, however it is believed to have been named after Samuel Davenport, a SA Member of the Legislative Council. |
