History/Origin These falls were originally named Gwendoline Falls by D Lindsay in 1883, after his daughter. David Lindsay discovered the falls whilst carrying out a survey of the Hayward Range (now Tabletop Range). The name Gwendoline Falls was verified by A J Lane in 1916. The current name is believed to have been adopted from the nearby Wangi Homestead, and due to its popular usage was adopted as the official name. The aboriginal name for the falls is NGANTJURR.
