History/Origin Named in commemoration of Les Loy ( -2005) who came to Alice Springs in 1960 commencing his association with the Territory. Les Loy was the first licensed real estate agent in the Territory; he was an elected alderman in Alice Springs and in 1981 elected to the position of deputy Mayor. His influence can be seen in almost every major development in Alice Springs.

After 35 years in Alice Springs Les and his wife Marie moved to Darwin and this is when the Larrakia Development Corporation story began when Les approached Norman Fry, the CEO of the Northern Land Council with a business proposal involving the Larrakia People. Les recognised the development potential of 50 hectares of virgin bush at Rosebery, on the fringe of fast-growing Palmerston. The Larrakia Development Corporation and their Darla subdivision were the result. Les was appointed on 04 February 2002 as an inaugural Board member of the Larrakia Development Corporation and remained until February 2004.

Les Loy died on 5 June 2005. Subsequently the Corporation successfully developed the Darla Subdivision fulfilling Les?s vision while creating a solid base for the financial security of all Larrakia.
