| History/Origin |
Named in commemoration of John Norman Crago (1947-2002) prospector and miner who came to the Territory in the 1960s and prospected in the Pine Creek / Hayes Creek area. He worked various small mines on his own account and in 1985 joined Territory Resources as Chief Prospector working on many projects particularly in the Mount Wells and Sandy Creek area. He discovered the Touhys gold deposit near Pine Creek. He died of cancer in Tallangatta in December 2000. |
