| History/Origin | This Alice Springs suburb is named after the Sadadeen Range which in turn was so named because Saleh (Charlie) Sadadeen, an Indian Cameleer, used to graze his camels there. Charlie Sadadeen was initially employed by Wallis Brothers and eventually owned his own herd. He arrived in Alice Springs in the 1890s. Sadadeen took up Miscellaneous lease No. 53 for the purpose of fruit growing on the west side of the Todd River in 1921. After his death in 1933 other Afghans took up the leases. The suburb boundary, as approved on 8 March 2007, is deliniated on CP 5075. |
