History/Origin The school located in Baniyala Community takes its name partly from the name of the homeland, Baniyala, and partly from the garrangali, or crocodile's nest which is not too far from this community and is a very significant part of the dreaming of the Madarpa people who call Baniyala home. In the garrangali the crocodile lays her eggs and rears her hatchlings until they are able to go out into the wider world and fend for themselves.
