History/Origin Named in commemoration of Sergeant Reginald John (Jack) Ogden who served with the Royal Australian Artillery from his enlistment in 1939 until the end of WWII. He was promoted to Lance Sergeant, then Sergeant over this period. He spent time as a signals sergeant with the 2/11 Field Regiment in Darwin, PNG (Lae) and the islands from 1941 to 1945 and was awarded a British Empire Medal for his service.

On retirement Jack offered his services to the Darwin Military Museum. He restored artefacts including items attached to Artillery signals, and mentored Royal Australian Artillery Association members and museum staff on WWII matters relating to Darwin and the Top End.

He passed away in 1983 and his ashes were scattered at the Darwin Military Museum (at his request).
