| History/Origin | Named after Garry Schneider who started his career as a lawyer working in Personal Injuries and Criminal Law. Garry was known for regularly appearing for the 'underdog'. In 1986, Garry moved to Darwin and worked for the law firm Walter James, eventually becoming the owner and senior partner of the business. He was recognized as one of the Darwin's leading practitioners in workers compensation and industrial relations. His commitment to social justice in the law continued in Darwin. He was the Campaign Manager for Clare Martin in the seat of Fannie Bay during the 1995 election. Garry sold his practice to Hunt & Hunt in 2002, and subsequently took up employment as a Senior Lawyer within the Department of Justice, where he remained until his death in 2005. |
