| History/Origin |
Named after Frank (Smiler) Nilon who came to the Northern Territory in 1948 and started work as a driver for Co-Ord Transport in Alice Springs. During his career he worked for Australian Blue Metal, later purchasing a truck and hauling livestock and general freight to points across north Australia. He is remembered for his long time association with Hastings Deering and for his humour and compassion displayed on the road towards others. |
