| History/Origin |
Named after Jim McConville who moved to Alice Springs in 1936 to work at the government workshops. During that time he provided technical advice for the operation of the first roadtrain, an eight wheel AEC hauling up to eight trailers. He went on to become Superintendent of the Territory's fleet during WWII. He later partnered with Dave Baldock operating Central Motor Services and DR Baldock for over twenty years. Jim's brother Harry arrived in 1946 to become a partner in Central Motor Works and DR Baldock as well. |
