History/Origin Named in commemoration of Sergeant Charles Fuhrmann, who was working as an accountant in Darwin for the Office of the Railway Superintendent prior to enlisting in the Australian Imperial Force. Sergeant Fuhrmann enlisted in Perth in 1915 at the age of 26 years and served with the 3rd Light Horse Regiment and the 10th Light Horse Regiment. Sergeant Fuhrmann died in Jerusalem on 13 August 1918 of pneumonia and was buried at the Jerusalem War Cemetery, Palestine.
