| History/Origin |
Named in commemoration of Private Carlestone Thorne, who enlisted in Darwin in 1915 at the age of 30. Private Thorne was gassed in 1917 and transferred to the 12th Machine Gun Company in 1918. He died at Lihons, France in August 1918 and was buried in the Fouquescourt British Cemetery, France. |
