| History/Origin | Dr Stanley Jones Linco was born in the city of Lahore, Pakistan (now India) in 1935 and immigrated to Australia in 1972. Stanley was appointed the Medical Officer for Darwin by the Department of Health in 1973. In September 1974 Stanley was promoted to Regional Director with his head office in Gove (Nhulunbuy). He worked in Gove for four years, suffered a heart attack due to work overload, took a demotion and returned to Darwin in 1978. Stanley resigned from the Department of Health and went into General Private Practice in October 1979. His first surgery was part of a rural Shopping Centre on the outskirts of Darwin in the community of Litchfield. He was the first and much needed GP in the area. In 1984 he opened up a second surgery in Moo St, Berrimah, in partnership with another Doctor. This surgery continued to flourish for a number of years. Dr Stanley Jones Linco passed away on 5 September 2016. |
