Named in commemoration of William Henry (Bill) Lewis (7/2/1925 - 9/2/1999); Officer with Australia Post from 1941 until 1973; one of the few survivors from the Post Office bombing during first airraid on Darwin 19/2/1942, receiving commendation for gallantry; significantly involved with planning and construction of Winnellie Post Office Exchange.
