| History/Origin | Means 'Centre of Afghans' and is so named to reflect the involvement of the Afghan community on the Civic Centre site in the early days of Alice Springs. This incorrectly spelt name has since been amended to "Nishan-e-Afghan Park" vide NTG43 01/11/2000. This area was shown on post war maps of the town as COLOCAG Park. COLOCAG (or COLACAG) being the abbreviation of"Commanding Officer Line of Command Area G" or "Commanding Office Central Australian LInes of Communication". Lot 2281 was gazetted as Alice Springs Civic Centre vide NTG45 20/10/1965 |
