| History/Origin |
Named after Steven Abala, a prominent sportsman in Darwin and the Territory. He played Australian Rules football as Captain of the Buffaloes Football Club where he won the Nicholls Medal. He also played soccer for the Stuart Park team, basketball for the Urgers team and rugby for the Navy team. He was a returned serviceman, serving with the Army in Korea.
