History/Origin Named after Behm River, in turn named by Alexander Forrest on his 1879 expedition after Dr Ernst Behm of Gotha. The Behm River and Mount was originally named Behn River and Mount, but research in 1996 revealed that the name should be Behm River and Mount. The new spelling has been adopted in WA and the NT for the River and Mount Behm.
