| History/Origin | In 1990, the (former) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC) purchased the Hodgson Downs Station, now known as Warrigundu Station, for the Alawa Traditional Owners. Following acquisition of the station, many residents returned to Minyerri, which is located near the station homestead. The community gives its name to the gazetted locality Miniyeri (see place ID 22441). The origin of the variation in spelling for the locality name is unknown. |
