History/Origin Named after William Darten Kekwick who was second in command and accompanied Stuart on his journeys. Later he joined W.C. Gosse's expedition - he died at Blinman in October 1872. Kekwick Ponds on Bishop Creek near Attack Creek was named by Stuart on his first journey to Central Australia in 1860 but he named Kekwick Springs on the Katherine River headwaters on his last overland journey.
