Named after Phoebe Doreen Farrar (nee Wright) came to the Territory in 1890 when she was 19 . Pheobe with the Farrar family drove a horse and buggy from Normanton via Camooweal to the Limmen River in the Gulf Country where they set up the Valley of Springs Station. She later married Robert Farrar junior and formed Nutwood Downs before they moved to Ban Ban Springs in the early 1900s. Phoebe was evacuated in 1942 but returned following the war and lived with Robert at Grove Hill. Robert died in the early 1950s and Phoebe in 1957. |
