History/Origin	Named after Cornelius Van der Lyn after whom Tasmans Cape Islands by Flinders in the 'Investigator'. Tasman named this Cabo van derlins' (Vanderlin's Cape.) On Christmas Day 1802 Flinders and his men went among the "Sir Edward Pellew Group" of Islands taking bearings. The 'Investigator' botanists were also active in this area. One hundred and thirty years later NT Pastoralists proposed that a port be made at Vanderlin Island which is the largest of the group.
