| History/Origin | The Edith River, together with other Rivers in the area, was named by W McMinn, during the construction of the OT Line (1871), after the wife of the SA Governor Sir James Fergusson, Lady Edith Christian Fergusson (nee Ramsay) (b.1839 -d.1871) daughter of Marquis of Dalhousie (after whom Dalhousie Springs are named). The pool at Edith Falls was named Edith Reservoir at about the same time. Leliyn is the traditional Jawoyn Aboriginal name for the falls. |
