History/Origin Ali Curung as an administrative area is based on and takes its name from the Aboriginal community of the same name. Established as Warrabri Settlement in 1956 as the result of the abandonment of Phillip Creek and Attack Creek Reserves. In 1981 the Community became Ali Curung which relates to the local Alyawarra and Kaditja Aboriginals? ?Dingo Dreaming?.

The community boundary, as approved on 8 March 2007, is deliniated on Compiled Plan 5086.
