| History/Origin |
Kintore as an administrative area is based on and takes its name from the Aboriginal Community of the same name. The Community derives its name from the feature 'Range' named in turn by W H Tietkens in 1889 after the Governor of South Australia, the Earl of Kintore 1889 - 1895. Another name used for the Community is Wulungurru. |
