Mount Liebig as an administrative area is based on the Aboriginal Community of the same name, which derives its name from the nearby Mount Liebig, named by Ernest Giles on 18 September 1872 after Baron Justus Von Liebig, "from whose great chemical researches Australia so much benefited". |
