| History/Origin | Named in commemoration of John Lawrence (Laurie) Cubillo, a deceased Larrakia man, born at the Two Mile Dam, Stuart Park area, Darwin on 4/09/1934. He served in Korea with the Australian Army between 1952-57. In 1957 Laurie married Janet Markham. Following his discharge from the Army, he worked with the Department of Transport and Works for over 40 years supervising Contractors. Following his retirement he served on the Board of the Larrakia Development Corporation until his death on 16/07/2003. Laurie and Janet have seven children: Kim (deceased), Shirley,Terry, Matthew, Russell, Pilar and Luke. |
