| History/Origin |
Named after Henry and Agnes Marie Allwright, who came to the Northern Territory in about 1873, working first on the railway to Pine Creek and later in the mines at Union Reef, where their son was the first white child born in the area. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the original settlers still live in the Northern Territory. Henry Allwright is buried in Pine Creek and his wife in the Gardens cemetery.
