| History/Origin |
Named after the explorer and author Ernest Favenc. In 1878 Favenc led an expedition from Queensland to Powell Creek, naming Anthonys Lagoon and other well known features. He also explored country south of the Gulf of Carpentaria with Lindsay Crawford in 1883. |
