| History/Origin |
Named after Gerhardt Andreas Johannsen who with his wife came to Hermannsburg as lay workers about 1900. They later took up Deep Well Station in 1911 and held it for 18 years. The family is well-known in Alice Springs and many descendants still live in the town. |
