| History/Origin | Named after Sir Ross Smith who in 1919 became the first aviator to fly from England to Australia. A monument at Fannie Bay commemorates his landing. Ross Smith Avenue was the original airstrip for the Darwin Civil or Ross Smith Aerodrome. |
